Then come to Norway to see the brightest Auroras, spend a couple of memorable nights at a colourful rorbu by the ocean, and enjoy fantastic winter sunrises and sunsets. THE COUPLE AND THEIR DECISION TO PLAN A Norway Fjord Elopement
Are you and your partner adventurous at heart? If so, would you like to hike narrow highland trails, not being afraid to get your boots and even the back of your wedding dress a little dirty? That’s exactly what Vikky and Arthemes came with to us in their inquiry! They met in 2011, and soon, they couldn’t imagine a day apart. Years later, Artheme proposed to Vikky on the highest slopes while on a holiday ski trip. So, this is why their minds stopped at Norway as their elopement destination.
What Vikky & Arthemes shared with us: “We always dreamed of exploring Nordic fjords, maybe even eloping in the Lofoten islands, Norway – a country of stunning contrasts, with its rugged climate and lush natural landscapes. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect backdrop for our photos! Over three days, we hiked through the rain and even trekked across the highlands with our Norway elopement photographers (aka Jane & Tony Iskra) in late August to take our elopement photos. Despite getting little sleep, the adventure was beyond worth it, creating memories that will last a lifetime!“
Vikky & Arthemes MULTi-Day Norway Elopement
Vikky & Artheme’s elopement was all about embracing anything Norway’s weather had in store. We planned the elopement itinerary together with the couple, as V+A said they trusted us completely, so we could go anywhere our wildest dreams may lead us. This is why we planned a multi-day elopement experience to cover various locations for elopement photography + have a plan B and C, in case of bad weather. Yes, it can easily happen even in August, from our rich experience of planning and shooting elopements in Norway.
Day 1: Exploring the Naeroyfjord and Flåm
On the first day, we were originally planning to have a drive to one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway, called the Geirangerfjord, to explore, enjoy the views, and surely have some portraits at sunset. While driving to the fjord and passing all the tiny Scandinavian villages, we encountered numerous unexpected things, such as numerous tunnels being reconstructed and closed for traffic, which created ridiculously long traffic jams on the road. Luckily, as seasoned professionals and adventure elopement photographers in Norway, we pre-scouted the region and had a plan B and even C (in case of bad weather)! We decided to visit Naeroyfjord instead – and it was a totally right decision. Just look at the stunning photography captured there! Hardly any tourists were around, only seagulls and sheep were the only whiteness! After visiting the fjord, we had a great coffee and famous Scandinavian cinnamon buns at the cozy Flåm Bakeri in the tiny town called Flåm, filled up the gas tank, and headed to our Airbnb to have a good rest for day two.
Day 2: Sunset Hiking Adventure in the Mountains of Norway
On day two, closer to sunset, after visiting many highland viewpoints, being above the clouds and taking numerous photos, we headed to the foot of the mountain. We parked and started hiking the trail to the viewpoint at the top. Well, it’s worth mentioning that it wasn’t the easiest hike, especially for Vikky in her wedding dress. By the end of the hike, we gained more than 1000m elevation, but it was so worth that! As always in Norway, although the hikes are steep, they’re normally pretty short too, and at the final point, there was absolutely no one, except us and dozens of sheep (of course!). We shot fantastic sunset portraits, saw an incredible moon right after that, and even got some photos during our favourite time of the day, called twilight.

Elopement Tips from ISKRA photography
You may be easily overwhelmed with so many moving pieces, especially while planning your elopement day in such an offbeat destination as Norway. There are so few options for any elopement vendors you may need for your special day. This, combined with super unpredictable weather, is a reason why you need an experienced elopement photographer.
With all the possible plans A, B, and C of Vikky & Artheme’s Norway elopement, we wanted to make sure we would not only have a variety of different locations for photography, but also not miss ferries between the fjords. This, plus closed tunnels, can make a complete collapse of our itinerary, but in this case, we had a plan C to go with.
