Summer Solstice Faroe Islands Intimate Wedding | Netti + Simon
Wedding at the Faroe Islands | Destination Wedding Photographers

Simon and Netti had long dreamed of an intimate wedding in the Faroe Islands. They had planned to visit the remote archipelago even before the pandemic, not realizing the Faroe Islands would later become their dream wedding destination.
The vision they had shared with us in the initial inquiry was rather simple: a day that was just about the two of them. Getting married privately meant that they could focus and prioritise on themselves. And in the end, the Faroes archipelago delivered exactly that! We, as destination wedding photographers, couldn’t agree more that the Faroe Islands are an outstanding choice for an intimate wedding of such a kind – intimate, quiet, and still incredibly beautiful!
the Couple & And their Plan to Have a Faroe Islands Wedding
Planning a wedding from afar always comes with some unknowns, but we worked out all the details and gathered them all together. After booking the tiny fisherman’s cabin in the tiny village of Eiði, they planned their day around the dramatic viewpoints of northern Eysturoy island: the ridge of Eidiskollur, the summit of Slættaratindur, and the cliffs of Gjógv. After checking the weather prior to the wedding day, we found out that it’s gonna be a super sunny day. We set their private wedding ceremony at Hvithamar Viewpoint, a spot where the fjords stretch endlessly into the horizon.
We worked closely with them via video calls and email to plan their day, from scouting landscapes the day before to building a relaxed timeline around the shifting Faroe Islands weather.
From a Cozy GETTING-READY at A Tiny Fisherman cabin, to exploring all the Epic locations at the Sunset, this is the Way to Have an Intimate Wedding in the Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands delivered a cinematic setting for Netti & Simon’s wedding day. During it, we got everything: fantastic views on the endless ocean from the cliff’s edges, the brightest sunset, and of course, so much love between S & N. We hiked, explored, and found quiet spaces to soak it all in. Every location we visited felt like it was made just for them.
Their love celebration was beautifully simple. Simon wore a light suit that contrasted softly with the rugged landscape, while Netti chose a satin gown paired with layers for warmth.
After having a private vow ceremony with absolutely jaw-dropping views, we just soaked in the beauty of the Faroe Islands. Instead of rushing from place to place, we all just felt the moment and dived into the calm, present, and intimate wedding day. Just the way Simon and Netti wanted. And the photographs? They turned out just as good!
One of everyone’s favorite memories came at the very end of the day, almost at twilight, by the water with the view of Drangarnir. While opening the celebratory bubbles, the cork popped and sprayed champagne in all possible directions! It was a genuine moment of laughter and joy that we captured at ease. Don’t miss this fun part closer to the end of the shoot!
Wedding Tips from ISKRA photography:
Planning a wedding day in the Faroe Islands with so many moving pieces can feel overwhelming. This is where working with an experienced Faroese wedding photographer can help.
Even experiencing super unpredictable weather, the unstable timetable of the ferries between the islands, we still managed to plan an outstanding, adventurous wedding day for Netti and Simon.
Careful planning is always for the win, but if you don’t want to walk this road alone, just reach out. We would love to help you plan your elopement in Norway, the Faroe Islands (or an elopement anywhere else in Europe!).
*Pro Tip 1 – The best time to visit and plan your intimate wedding or elopement in the Faroe Islands is usually June to September. It’s worth keeping in mind that although the Faroe Islands are not as touristy as Iceland, July and August are still the busiest months of the year, which means you’ll need to plan your micro wedding day timeline with us.
*Pro Tip 2 – The Faroe Islands are one of the wildest, secluded, and incredibly beautiful destinations you can get married at! On the flip side, you have to get prepared for your adventure like a pro: Dress in layers, buy a bunch of good hand warmers, pack great hiking boots with amazing grip (the best locations are only reachable with hiking a grassy and sometimes muddy terrain)!
Kind Words from the Couple:
“It was a pleasure working with you. We knew at the very beginning that you were who we wanted to spend our day with and we were right. Your kindness, honesty, professionalism, and care really came through for us.”
“We appreciated the video chats and emails that kept us informed throughout the process. Most importantly, we appreciated that you travelled around the island the day prior to identify potential areas for photos. This saved us time and ensured the photo shoot was a seamless adventure.”
“Our photo shoot was magical and it was all thanks to you, Tony & Jane!”Simon + Netti | got married in the Faroe Islands
Simon & Netti, thank you for inviting us into such a meaningful moment. We’ll never forget your laughter, your ease, and the way the Faroe Islands held space for it all.
