Sunny Elopement Among the Faroe Fjords and Mountains

Meet the Couple & Know Why They Chose the Faroe Islands
Simon and Netti had long dreamed of eloping in the Faroe. “It was a dream destination that both of us were determined to visit before the pandemic,” they shared. What they didn’t expect was that this wild, rugged landscape would really become the place where they’d say their vows.
Their vision was simple: a day that was just about the two of them. “Getting eloped meant that we could focus and prioritise ourselves. Throughout our time there, it felt like it was just the two of us, which is what we wanted.”
After reading this, we, as elopement photographers, couldn’t agree more that Faroe is an outstanding choice for an elopement of such a kind – intimate, quiet, and still incredibly beautiful!
Planning Their Faroe Islands Elopement
Planning an elopement from afar always comes with some unknowns, and for Simon and Netti, the remote nature of the islands was one of the first considerations. “The distance between ourselves and Tony & Jane was something we thought about, but the clear and frequent communication put us at ease.”
We worked closely with them via video calls and email to plan their day, from scouting landscapes the day before to building a relaxed timeline around the shifting Faroe Islands weather.
Their ADVENTURE Day Elopement
The Faroe Islands delivered a cinematic setting for their day: towering sea cliffs, misty fjords, and the wind always moving through the grass. We hiked, explored, and found quiet spaces to soak it all in. Every location we visited felt like it was made just for them.
And while we love the planned moments, it was an unexpected one that turned into their favorite:
“Towards the end of our photo shoot, we were opening our bottles of bubbles for the final photo but the cork slipped out and began spraying everywhere. Although this was not planned, Tony & Jane were both quick and able to seize the moment and capture some great photos which remain one of our favourites.”
Don’t miss this fun part closer to the end of the shoot!
Jane & Tony’s Elopement Tips:
Planning an elopement day with so many moving pieces can feel overwhelming. This is where working with an experienced elopement photographer can help.
With all these moving parts of this elopement in the Faroe Islands, such as super unpredictable weather, the unstable timetable of the ferries between the islands, we still managed to plan an outstanding day for Netti and Simon.
Careful planning is always for the win, but if you don’t want to walk this road alone, just reach out. We would love to help you plan your elopement in Norway, the Faroe Islands (or an elopement anywhere else in Europe!).
*Pro Tip 1 – The best time to visit and plan your intimate elopement in the Faroe Islands is usually June to September. It’s worth keeping in mind that although the Faroe Islands are not as touristy as Iceland, July and August are still the busiest months of the year, which means you’ll need to plan your micro wedding day timeline with us.
*Pro Tip 2 – The Faroe Islands are one of the wildest, secluded, and incredibly beautiful destinations you can elope at! On the flip side, you have to get prepared for your adventure like a pro: Dress in layers, buy a bunch of good hand warmers (especially when planning an autumn or winter elopement in the Faroe Islands), pack great hiking boots with amazing grip (the best locations are only reachable with hiking a grassy and sometimes muddy terrain)!
Kind Words from the Couple:
“It was a pleasure working with you. We knew at the very beginning that you were who we wanted to spend our day with and we were right. Your kindness, honesty, professionalism, and care really came through for us.”
“We appreciated the video chats and emails that kept us informed throughout the process. Most importantly, we appreciated that you travelled around the island the day prior to identify potential areas for photos. This saved us time and ensured the photo shoot was a seamless adventure.”
“Our photo shoot was magical and it was all thanks to you, Tony & Jane!”Simon + Netti
Simon & Netti, thank you for inviting us into such a meaningful moment. We’ll never forget your laughter, your ease, and the way the Faroe Islands held space for it all.
