Icelandic Highlands private elopement at Haifoss waterfall | Tim + Nicole
A Couple and Their Icelandic Highlands & Haifoss Elopement
Once you meet such couples as Tim & Nicole, you absolutely instantly understand, that the upcoming day of the elopement is gonna be amazing. The start of it was really slow, smooth, and touching, we felt the magic between them, especially in such touching moments when we saw Tim seeing Nicole in her wedding dress for the first time. We didn’t even have to lead or direct them anyhow, but just had the huge pleasure of being their elopement photographers and capturing what we saw.
Although the weather looked sunny & warm, it was so windy & cold in fact. However, it didn’t bother us all too much – because it was love, that helped us to get warm.
For the sunset we’ve decided to drive to one of the most beautiful waterfalls we know, to reach a secluded spot for a private elopement ceremony at Haifoss. And it was worth it!
The Unmatched Beauty of Haifoss Waterfall
Haifoss Waterfall is not just a natural wonder; it’s a photographer’s paradise. The waterfall plummets about 122 meters into a deep gorge, creating a stunning visual spectacle. The surrounding landscape, characterized by rugged cliffs and vibrant greenery, enhances the dramatic effect. Imagine exchanging wedding vows or having an Asatru wedding ceremony with the soothing sound of cascading water in the background and a panoramic view that leaves you breathless.
Seclusion and Intimacy of Haifoss elopement
One of the main appeals of eloping is the desire for a private, intimate ceremony, and both Haifoss Waterfall and the Highlands of Iceland offer just that. Its relatively remote location means fewer tourists and more privacy. You can enjoy your special moment in peace, surrounded only by nature’s beauties.
Despite its secluded feel, Haifoss is relatively accessible. It’s about a two-hour drive from Reykjavik, with the last part of the journey being a gravel road, suitable for most vehicles during the summer months.

Why Choose the Highlands of Iceland and Háifoss for Your Wedding or Elopement
It’s Basically Mars, But Cooler
The Highlands are wild, remote, and totally otherworldly. Think volcanic craters, moss-covered plains, and dramatic mountains that scream, “This is not your average wedding venue.” You’ll feel like the only two people in the world (or on another one).
Háifoss Brings the Big Waterfall Energy
Imagine a waterfall so massive it looks like it’s trying to show off for your wedding. That’s Háifoss. With a 400-foot drop into a jaw-dropping canyon, it’s like nature is saying, “Your love deserves this level of epicness.”
It’s Just You, Your Love, and Nature Showing Off
No tourists awkwardly snapping pics in the background, no city noise, no distractions. The Highlands and Háifoss are remote enough that it’s just you two, a few lucky guests, and the kind of scenery that makes you go, “WOW, this is real life.”
Wedding Photos That’ll Make Everyone Say ‘OMG’
You know those wedding photos where people look like they’re on the cover of National Geographic? Yeah, that’ll be you. Lava fields, sweeping gorges, a waterfall bigger than your imagination—it’s all there, waiting to be your backdrop.
Your Wedding = An Epic Adventure
Just getting to the Highlands and Háifoss is a story. Whether you’re hiking, bouncing over rugged roads in a 4×4, or just exploring the area, your wedding day doubles as an epic Icelandic adventure. Who needs a boring ballroom when you can do this?
