Snæfellsnes Getaway elopement | Angeline + Ashley

The Couple and Their Snaefellsnes Peninsula Elopement
Ah, I guess I will start the story with the fact that these two look just super cool! We were just obsessed with the style of Angeline & Ashley right from the moment we met each other in their cozy room at the Hotel Budir. Guys came from New York to elope in Iceland and their day felt like it just couldn’t look more gorgeous!
Snaefellssness peninsula is known for its super changeable weather, but it was pretty comfortable, warm, and even sunny. We got very lazy and intimate getting ready, had a very touching symbolic wedding ceremony at Budir, and of course, explored the peninsular a little with the guys to show their love at the super scenic spots. Angeline dreamed of saying their vows somewhere strikingly beautiful by the Atlantic Ocean (yes, on the other side of the same Atlantic where New York is) – at the beach or the high ocean cliff.
This is why we chose the western Iceland peninsula called Snaefellssnes. We opted for not a legendary old chapel. Still, we decided to do an outdoor vow ceremony with the endlessly beautiful mountain backdrop, sound of waves, and seagulls accompanying the secret vows the couple shared.
Yes, I know I’ve probably told that too often, but really! We were so incredibly lucky that these two chose us to be their photographers – just look at these stunning photos below!
Our Snaefellsnes Elopement Planning Tips
*Elopement Photographer‘s Tip – Snaefellssnes is one of the most popular regions of Iceland among tourists (and the tourist groups, which is the scariest). That’s why we strongly recommend considering the timing and season while planning your wedding day, or maybe even choosing another striking elopement location in the south like Dyrholaey cliff or Kvernufoss waterfall.
*Elopement Photographer’s Tip 2– Snaefellsness is a unique area that stands out even among other Icelandic regions for its super changeable and windy conditions happening even in summertime. You can easily get the most severe and windy weather on your elopement day, which makes thorough preparations really a must.
Therefore, here is the list of things to prepare:
- Dress in layers
- Warm waterproof jackets and boots are a must
- Buy hand warmers
- No heels for the outdoor portraits
- Thermos with hot water or tea would be your saver for the day
Our Top 6 Elopement Locations
There are dozens of epic elopement spots at Snaefellssnes, and the best part of eloping here is that all of them are pretty close to each other thanks to the size of the peninsula. Most of these absolutely unique and special locations can be covered with a full-day elopement package:
- Budir Black Church & Hotel
- Kirkjufell mountain & Kirkjufellsfoss
- Arnarstapi Stone Arch
- Londrangar Ocean cliff
- Djupalonssandur beach & coastline
- Berserkjahraun Moss Lava Flieds just outside Arnarstapi
From relaxed getting ready at the Hotel To a Gorgeous Vow Ceremony with the stunning Mountain View and Wedding portraits at the Ocean Cliff, this Is How To Plan Your Saefellssnes Elopement
